For R.A. Moog, Inc.
STUDIO, RESEARCH LAB PLANNED
TRUMANSBURG - The Trumansburg Area Development Corp. has reached an agreement with R.A. Moog, Inc. to construct a studio and research facility in the village and will proceed as rapidly as possible with acquisition of land, site development and construction of the building.
This announcement followed weeks of cooperation by the T.A.D.C. and the Trumansburg Village board in an effort to select a site both appropriate and available. Members of both groups have contacted residents of the area adjacent to the site, explaining the proposed development, and report that reaction has been most favorable.
The site selected, comprising of approximately 12 acres of land located between Cayuga and Prospect Streets, consists of two separate parcels, one known as the Stone family property and the other belonging to the Magner family.
The development group will purchase the land, develop the site, construct and lease a single story, steel building of approximately 15,000 to 16,000 square feet. The move will add between $2O0,000 and $300,000 to the village tax base and will potentially provide employment to some 100 persons.
The development will be financed through three channels: (1) local commercial sources; (2) the Job Development Authority, a division of the Dept. of Commerce and (3) investment of local interested parties.
The next step will be to secure from the Village Board, a variance in the zoning ordinance which will convert the land involved from residential to industrial. Then contracts can be let, and ground will be broken, hopefully before winter.
The Trumansburg Area Development Corporation is a non-profit group of interested individuals chartered by the Stake of New York, April 27, 1965. Its avowed function is to pursue ways and means of securing new business and developing existing concerns for the betterment of the community.
